Damn if all these comments were made about any other religion/race all hell would break loose. Sikhs don’t know how to defend themselves against this shit because we have always been a subject to it. A lot of people in the comments probably don’t even know what Sikhism is and the saddest part is that it’s a lot of minorities going against minorities (blacks vs Sikhs, East Asians, etc). So, let me spread some knowledge. Sikh men wear turbans and grow their beards in order to show gratitude to their god (Waheguru Ji) for providing them with this gift. They wear turbans (paaghs) in order to protect said hair and maintain cleanliness. Sikhism stands for gender equality, strength & volunteerism (seva). It is a religion based out of pure love & it is quite unfortunate that we receive the most hate. We are constantly mistaken for Muslims, we are constantly belittled, we are constantly feared but we are also constantly peaceful, approachable and genuinely great people. We are a minority within a minority & I sincerely hope that this movie captures this, educate the ignorant people on the religion and significance/importance of the beard and lastly I hope this movie helps to bring tolerance and awareness to my religion. I completely agree with comments by non Sikh or non Indians. Why would a nation changes rules of a game, politics or anything for immigrants? However, cultural appropriation is indeed a subjective thing. For instance, burqa is indeed a wrong custom for the West because it's dangerous from security point of view. But what's wrong with a custom which doesn't pose any threat to anybody. First, he is not a Muslim. He is from Sikh community, one of the best communities in the world.
