7.2 / 10

When virtually all of the residents of Piedmont, New Mexico, are found dead after the return to Earth of a space satellite, the head of the US Air Force's Project Scoop declares an emergency. Many years prior to this incident, a group of eminent scientists led by Dr. Jeremy Stone (Arthur Hill) advocated for the construction of a secure laboratory facility that would serve as a base in the event an alien biological life form was returned to Earth from a space mission. Stone and his team - Drs. Dutton, Leavitt and Hall (David Wayne, Kate Reid, and James Olson, respectively)- go to the facility, known as Wildfire, and try to first isolate the life form while determining why two people from Piedmont (an old wino and a six-month-old baby) survived. The scientists methodically study the alien life form unaware that it has already mutated and presents a far greater danger in the lab, which is equipped with a nuclear self-destruct device should it manage to escape.

Clickbait. Don't remake classical movie trailers and then upload them as originals. Doesn't matter you mentioned it in the description. - @Tuesday, May 29, 2018 11:06 PM

Excellent updated trailer for the 1971 original, which is vastly superior to the 2008 remake. Regarding the latter, it is terrible: the producers tried to add "sex appeal" to the story line, hence ruining a great thriller. The original has terrific sets and props (most of which are actual biomedical research instruments) and follows the book, which is one of Crichton's best works. - @Tuesday, May 29, 2018 3:03 AM

Such a good film, Crichton is a real nerd when it comes to facts, figures and the actual science of sci- fi. The film portrays the cold emotionless decision makers of the world perfectly. well worth reading or watching. - @Sunday, January 7, 2018 10:35 AM

Your work on this trailer is excellent. Just a couple of things though. You've given away a bit too much of the plot and the music gets a bit loud half way through (I've read comments from editors saying the background sound is hard to regulate on these kind of videos). - @Friday, September 1, 2017 6:55 PM

One of the best, and freaking scary Sci-Fi movies ever made! It is timeless. The last 10 minutes will have your feet off the ground and have you clutching your stomach because SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE, and if it isn't, this world ends! - @Monday, June 19, 2017 6:21 AM

The TV series totally dropped the ball, it was awful! Still a chance for a good remake though. Still a great movie for die hard sci-fi geeks, but if you don't like hardcore sci-fi you'll fall asleep half way through. - @Saturday, March 4, 2017 12:55 AM

Utterly breathtaking. I never saw a movie that took such an scientific approach. Guess nowadays the audience is outright to damn stupid to appreciate this kind of movie to be a seller at the boxoffice... Can't really cope with the fact, it was shot in 1970. I should really start to dig through movies in that decade and earlier. Personaly, i would put it rather close to 2001. - @Friday, January 6, 2017 10:07 PM

This music is not from the movie / film. As you can read it says: Danny Boyle's 'Sunshine' (2007). This trailer is from The Andromeda Strain (1971), and the composer of that movie is Gil Melle. But the music (these two songs) you're hearing are from the album Sunshine (year 2007, as discribed). The album, from 2007 with these 2 songs, are composed by John Murphy. That's why it sounds ahead of it's time, because it's not from that time (1971). These 2 songs are from the movie (and soundtrack) Sunshine: Danny Boyle is the director, and John Murphy is the composer (Cillian Murphy is one of the actors in the movie). I hope there's no confussion anymore? - @Wednesday, August 17, 2016 8:55 PM
