Decades after a rock church in communist Romania's Carpathians caved when an expedition caused a landslide and buried everyone, Dr. Nicolai's scientific team exploring the associated Templar Knights monster fighting-legend discovers a deep, flooded cave system and hires the brothers Jack and Tyler's brilliant divers team to explore it. Another explosion traps them, after finding a mysterious parasite turning all species carnivore, and later an independently evolved predator species. Jack may be infected and turning, but Tyler sticks with him, so the group splits, hunted by the monsters, which also fly.

This was a great movie. It had it all; direction, acting, production, writing, special effects. All the elements that make a terrific film made this a master piece in this unusual genre. This is truly a professional accomplishment. Nothing else I've seen is even in the same galaxy as "The Cave". whoever compares this movie to The Descent is a fucking inept fag who enjoys their pumpkin spice lattes in front of a warm fire watching "scary movies" and I don't care what anyone says, HUMANS ARE NOT SCARY.. I don't give a fuck what a human is capable of.. humans are weak and nothing without tools.. yes I know the creatures are human but they're not.. their bodies are highjacked by a symbiotic parasite that readily and quickly adapts even their physiology to survive at the top of the food chain in any given environment.. they aren't human anymore.. they're the parasite.. it's like changing tires on a car.. but seriously guys these creatures are fucking perfect... everything from the clear teeth and claws to the ecolocation structure at the top of the skull.. it all makes perfect sense astrobiologically speaking.. the thing that makes them the most terrifying is that it's absolutely possible... a possesed elf is not and isn't logical for that kind of environment.. these guys had to have put immense time and effort to imagine and engineer those monsters.. they didn't just try to make it look scary.. that's why they picked an alien environment that is little understood such as caves as their setting because a large cavern dwelling predator would just so happen to be absolutely terrifying.. allowing enough time for evolution to give birth to an organism to actively change genetic and physical structure on the victim to fully equip it for survival in less than a third of the victim's lifespan.. that's absolutely amazing.. it's like growing tools on your body at the side effect of losing your mind.. seriously guys this movie isn't great as far as surprising you goes.. but I'll be damned if I don't think a creature that terrifying could exist undiscovered on earth or another planet waiting to be discovered.. have you ever thought of what a Europan eel would look like? fucking terrifying - @Saturday, September 5, 2015 5:15 AM
