While the art/animation in the film was gorgeous, all in all this was such a pretentious pile of rubbish: just pseudo-intellectual enough that people will say it's "brilliant" and "profound." If you thought that this was "mind-blowing" and "deep" then you should watch another film called Upstream Color, which is about as idiotically pretentious while parading around as being somehow "deep." (Aside: of course, as usual all this "profound mind-blowing depth" mysteriously translates to only women being naked, fetishized, and objectified sex objects, not men, while men are the "brilliant scientists and doctors." But that's not even my gripe with this film-- that's just an aside, the whole thing was just so pseudo-intellectual that it was almost physically painful). It almost felt like a high schooler wrote it with their limited idea of what "deep" must mean. I rolled my eyes so many times they nearly got stuck in that position permanently. - @Tuesday, September 11, 2018 1:20 PM

EXCELLENT MOVIE... IT GETS YOU VERY THOUGHTFUL However, I would prefer futuristic spaceships (like those of Avatar) instead of old-fashioned airships and wind boxes. - @Wednesday, April 19, 2017 6:13 AM

that awesome kite you see...the red one... It's a Cody Extended Wing Box  and there's also a version with a top sail. It's a rad kite. I have several myself. They were designed by Samuel Cody, Buffalo Bills's brother, for the English Army back in the day. They would build huge versions and fly them in trains and the attach baskets with soldier lookouts peeking out from inside scouting for the enemy. "Manlifters" is what they also called them. Totally badass and fun to fly. It's no wonder they feature them in this cool looking film. It's a cool kite. - @Wednesday, May 21, 2014 4:42 AM

I didn't pay attention but while watching it, after a while I've realized that The Congress vaguely reminds me to "Waltz with Bashir", and now I see it's the same director; Honestly, I don't know what to make of this movie; Waltz was great in every possible way, on the other hand Congress is good, even beautiful sometimes but it's mostly cluttered with poor script, too slow and confused narration and god damn afwul animations - @Wednesday, February 12, 2014 11:44 PM

It's a story based on a concept off the Lem novel, kind of like how both Solaris adaptations were portions of the novel Solaris. I'm not sure how this will turn out, but Ari Folman deserves the benefit of the doubt after Waltz With Bashir. - @Monday, September 16, 2013 1:13 PM

From someone who saw the movie- This is "black mirror"-ish, a sad and disturbing future and present mirror. We see ourselves naked and ugly. I think it's a must-see movie. It raises questions about who we are and what we want, what is the essence of our lives, what we seek in the world - fake happiness, or truth? - @Friday, August 16, 2013 3:13 PM

Kevin Flynn
I'm not saying I hate the movie or anything, I'm just saying I, personally, find this art style a little distracting, because of the oddly proportioned characters and their bug eyed, wrinkly animated faces. - @Friday, August 16, 2013 7:11 AM

Americans only had a part in the live acting, everything else was done by Germans, Belgians, Israelis, and predominantly French, Influenced by a Polish book that was set in Costa Rica... Besides, for me, the animation is contemporary and fresh, being that its not CGI and all - @Tuesday, August 13, 2013 10:03 PM
