URGHH I really wish they'd just LET GO already of this garbage pseudo-New 52 artstyle they've been doing. Say what you will about their Ed McGuinness style in Public Enemies, their strangely cartoonish look for Superman vs The Elite, or the odd design choices in Superman vs Doomsday, but at least they weren't boring! They were unique and interesting every single time, and much like the comics, they weren't afraid to vary things up a bit. Sure, it didn't always work, but at least it was interesting. Hell, if they wanted to have one unifying aesthetic to tie all the movies together, Assault on Arkham's designs were WAY better, and the animation wasn't butt-ugly like this crap. A microcosm of all of this is Superman. Like everyone, his face looks awful. The collar's always been a stupid idea, there's WAY too much blue, it leaves the outfit with nowhere near enough colour variation. The way his cape is incorporated just doesn't work at all; weirdly tiny strips of fabric that look bizarrely out of place, which really shouldn't be the case with an outfit on SUPERMAN, who's one of the most well-known cape wearers of any superhero. Even Man of Steel's costume looks better than this. A more classic aesthetic like the new Rebirth outfit works so much better than this, and there's seriously NO REASON why they couldn't just change it up a little here. Get rid of that ugly belt, break up the monotony of the colours, so something to make this thing not look embarrassing! And no offense intended to Jerry O'Connel, but he's a TERRIBLE choice for Superman. None of the inflections, tone or general sound is right for the character. It's not his fault, he should just never have been cast for the role. George Newborn is a WAY better choice, he's more experienced with it, he sounds exactly right and again, there's NO reason why NOT to get him in there. - @Friday, April 6, 2018 9:56 PM
