John Kreese, his life in tatters after his karate school was defeated by Daniel and Miyagi, visits Terry Silver, a Vietnam War comrade. Terry is a ruthless businessman and martial arts expert, and he vows to help Kreese gain revenge on Daniel and Miyagi, and reestablish Cobra Kai. Upon returning from Okinawa, Daniel and Miyagi discover that their apartment building has been demolished, which brings Miyagi out of work. Going against Miyagi's wishes, Daniel uses his college funds to realize Miyagi's dream of opening a bonsai tree shop, and becomes a partner in the bonsai business.

Daniel wasn’t a teen in this movie. At least he shouldn’t be. In the first karate kid Daniel was either 17 or 18. So the first movie was made in 1984 so 1984 plus 5 is 1989 and that was the year this movie was made in. So Daniel was probably 22 or 23. - @Thursday, August 16, 2018 6:32 AM

I always thought this was one of the best Karate Kid Films. Obviously there are only a few to compare it to, but i always thought that it was so much better than people give it credit for. Part 2 was a little slow, and kind of pointless. So, he fights a homicidal bully. Big deal. There was no tournament, nothing to prove to anyone, and it wasnt a planned match that he trained for. Sort of like the Rocky movies where he trains for 1/3 of the film in every Rocky movie. But idc qhat anyone says, Stallone had the right idea when he wrote those films. Some evil enemy antagonist wants to kick Rocky's ass, he doesn't stand for it, he trains his ass off to some bad music, has a 15-round fight that ALWAYS lasts 15 rounds, he gets his ass beat all over the ring, he makes a dramatic comeback in the last round for a full-fledged knock out. Now, had a fight like those taken place today, it qould have been stopped by the ref after Drago's first blow to Rocky's tiny head. Just saying. This movie was hilarious. Daniel basically spends the entire movie getting destroyed and then gets destroyed in the tournament but scores one fluke point and suddenly he is a "winner". The Karate Kid (1984) was the best film out of the 3. Part II and Part III essentially had the same plot formula as the original. Daniel gets beaten up at the start then wins in the end. John G.
