OMG .... What movie ! What a masterpiece . I just finished watching it now and my mind is going crazy , I loved every second of it and I will watch it again . What a pure masterpiece and to be honest at the ending of the movie I felt a bit sad because I didn't want it to end ! I hope Netflix really comes with a sequel and more Asian movies like this ! All the critics dogging on this movie because "a white man is the MC in an all asian movie", or "a white man in the Yakuza." Is just pathetic. Lots of the articles I read about this movie it seems like people are holding biased grudges on Leto just because of his past performances or just being plain nitpicky to the point where it prevents them from enjoying this movie which is all it is...a movie. I just finished it and honestly yes the MC is bland (though badass in the sense he doesn't take shit from nobody armed or not) but this movie was HELLA good. It's point blank simple people: Japan is a xenophobic, racialist, very nationalistic and ethnocentric society. And even more so is the Yakuza. It's Japanese for Japanese. I mean even the "Koreans" born in Japan that work in the Yakuza have low status. No white guy foreigner--especially post-world war II, the time period setting--would be, or is allowed to join the YAKUZA IN REAL LIFE nor has anyone ever joined. Period. I don't get it. An 'ethnic gang' is an ethnic gang, for a particular ethnicity. It's not "PC" or "LIBERAL" it's FACT. Simple. There's a billion ways they could've incorporated a foreign character into this movie.
