Didn't know this movie was around 3 hours long . Is an okay-ish movie as many post apocalyptic movies were in the 70's, 80's and 90's they were all with the same lingo . I'm not a Kevin Costner fan , i don't know but he doesn't deliver that great emotion or that touch in acting like other actors do from the same age as him . Only movie that i liked with Kevin Costner was The Untouchables but maybe because there were two bigger actors that i love more which are Robert deNiro and Sean Connery . Waterworld was nothing exceptionnal as movie it was a remake from Mad Max but this time on Sea , still don't know why that movie was so expensive to be made?? The vilain played by Dennis Hopper was cartoonish and funny . Not a bad movie but surely not a blockbuster either , it's a good little b-movie to watch without being too serious . Dances with Wolves many people call it a masterpiece but for me maybe because i'm not American that movie was boring and could have been easily shortened done to a less than 2 hours movie than more than 3 hours also there were too much scenes were nothing really happened only showing us for several seconds and minutes the sky, forest, water , etc.... Movies like these are good to watch only one time in our life . Robin Hood : Prince of Thieves is badly and poorly executed it also showed that mixing era's was bad, what has the character played by Morgan Freeman to do with a Robin Hood story ?! is beyond me . The only great interpretation was for the vilain Alan Rickman was the only good thing in the whole movie . Give me Robin Hood with Erol Flynn over this sh*t . Kevin Costner is not my cup of tea as actor . my opinion . - @Monday, September 10, 2018 1:08 PM

I loved this movie and I'm not a fan of Kevin Costner. I find the biggest issue with this movie is it seems to be about an hour too long. The whole living in the woods scene could be completely cut out. - @Tuesday, October 3, 2017 4:06 PM

I love the plot to this, and how it has several layers to it. That's the best part about it. Very original. However, that said.....a "Postman"?? Why not a cop or maybe a government employee or agent? Why not name himself the new president? Why a Postman? It's just a tad too corny for me. But I still do love this movie. - @Saturday, September 16, 2017 9:59 PM

*Minor Plot Spoilers* Nothing major that would ruin the movie, though. This movie happens to be a favorite of mine. I'd say in my Top 25. Although, it can be a little bit slow and drawn out at times, there's a whole lot to it. From the beginning when The Postman is forced to join the "army", to when he escapes and first becomes the postman, all the way up to when....well, I'll just stop there 🤐 If you haven't seen this then it's definitely worth watching at least once. It's very interesting and can be intense at times. - @Saturday, September 16, 2017 9:58 PM

I loved this movie and I have watched it quite a few times, sure there is a couple of cheesy scene's but this movie doesn't deserve the hate it gets. Water World suffered the same fate but i would put that movie in my top 20. I have met more than a few people who have said that they hated one or both of the movies I've just mentioned but when I asked if they'd seen them they just replied "no but the reviews are bad", people just can't think for themselves! Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Shawshank Redemption get mixed reviews when it first arrived? Now it's regarded as a masterpiece and rightly so! - @Sunday, July 23, 2017 2:22 AM

Looks like a really bad movie, fortunately the book is an awesome and very original story that came out in the mid 80's. I recommend it to those who like post-apocalyptic stories of any kind. - @Monday, July 17, 2017 7:02 AM

Holy shit this movie is long. I have rewatch the Postman after already 20 years. It is not horribly bad but clearly something is missing in all this. They could have easily done a mini series. Kevin Costner directing this movie try to hard to be Mel Gibson. I think he failed, this could have being Epic. It is weird how a movie in the post apocalyptic wilderness make it feel so claustrophobic. All you see is the same thing over and over again. If this movie would be done correctly it could be one of the best Patriotic movie about hope. - @Wednesday, May 17, 2017 8:25 AM

The trailer made this movie look badass. Yet, the movie itself was big disaster and disappointment. It even ruined Costner's career for a while. Even David Brin, the author of the best selling book this film was based on, regretted selling the rights to his novel. - @Tuesday, April 18, 2017 3:16 AM

why the hack every movie set in future that is completely different from present is set i dunno 20 year in the future, i mean what the fuck can change in 20 years???? this movie is set in 2013, back toi the future is 2015, 2001 space odyssey to name a few, but there are hundreds of them, i mean if you do movie about some dystopian society then at least be realistic and set it at least 200-300 hundreds years into the future, give us some time to fuck up the planet properly!!! - @Thursday, October 6, 2016 7:57 PM

I expected the film to suck. I'm a huge Fallout fan, so I'll give most post-apocalyptic films a go. Turned out to be a seriously good film actually. Especially if you're a fallout fan, the Postmen are like the Minutemen trying to unite the US together, and the 8 gang are like Caesar's Legion, dominating the US and using fear and tyranny to keep it's people in check. I'd rate the film 8/10. My only complaints about the film is, it's too long; at nearly 3 hours long. Also the romance in the film felt a bit out of place and could probably have benefited more without it.The ending had a ridiculously cheesy typical 90s ending that left me cringing a tad. But overall the film hasn't aged badly and could be one of my favourite films. It had me grinning and laughing at the light-hearted take of the post-apocalyptic world and the main protagonist. Reminds me a bit of a more upbeat Mad Max film. - @Thursday, April 21, 2016 2:17 PM
