Eric Lomax was one of thousands of Allied prisoners of war forced to work on the construction of the Thai/Burma railway during WW2. His experiences, after the secret radio he built to bring news and hope to his colleagues was discovered, left him traumatised and shut off from the world. Years later, he met Patti, a beautiful woman, on a train and fell in love. Patti was determined to rid Eric of his demons. Discovering that the young Japanese officer who haunted her husband was still alive, she faced a terrible decision. Should Eric be given a chance to confront his tormentor? Would she stand by him, whatever he did?

Yeah,,, I got my Netflix DVD in the mail today and I decided to check out the trailer for this film. So, this is what I got out of the trailer: Woman meets a man who fought in a war, was captured and tortured. Eventually, he gets out and goes home. He's got "issues", and she decides to stay with him. He finds out the guy who fucked him up is still alive and decides to go pay him a visit. He finds the guy, could've killed him, but doesn't. The man goes back home (2:13) and goes back to his girlfriend. Happy Happy Joy Joy. The End....That's what I figured out with this trailer. I think I skip the movie and mail it back. If you haven't seen this movie, you really should. What those men endured at the hands of the Japanese goes beyond words. As a kid, I grew up knowing a lot of veterans through the American Legion, the Amvets, and the VFW. My dad served in SE Asia during Vietnam and was heavily active in veterans advocacy in our state. Along the way I met a lot of amazing people who served in WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. One gentleman in particular was a survivor of the Bhutan Death March, and spent the war as a Japanese POW. How he lived through that experience I will never comprehend, and to hear him talk about it as a kid (to my dad) demonstrated the human resolve to survive such an ordeal. I also knew a few who were POW's in Germany, they were treated far better than those who were captive under the Japanese. - @Sunday, February 21, 2016 3:16 PM
