When an American space capsule is swallowed up by what they believe to be a Russian spaceship, World War 3 nearly breaks out. The British Government, however, suspect that other powers are at work as the space craft went down near Japan. S.P.E.C.T.R.E. is the force behind the theft, as James Bond discovers, but its motives are far from clear, and he must first find out where the captured space capsule is held before America and Russia initiate another world war.

"You Only Live Twice", "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", and "Diamonds Are Forever" are what I like to refer to as "The Blofeld Trilogy" (another name I give it is "The Fall Of SPECTRE Trilogy"). YOLT has Bond coming face-to-face with Ernst Stavro Blofeld for the first time, OHMSS has Blofeld getting the upper hand on Bond at the end by killing his wife, Traci, and DAF has Bond avenging Traci's death by killing Blofeld and putting an end to SPECTRE once and for all. Even though DAF never really implies that Bond is out for revenge for Traci's death, it still subtly hints at it, considering how pissed off Bond is at the very beginning of the movie and how he has that sadistic smile on his face at the end when he finally gets to crash Blofeld's mini-submarine into the control room of his oil rig base with the crane. The Blofeld at the beginning of "For Your Eyes Only" is what I like to consider as the last surviving doppelganger of Blofeld (like the ones in DAF, but obviously an old man in an electric wheelchair) who is out to avenge Blofeld's death and to start SPECTRE anew, but is immediately killed off by Bond at the very beginning. - @Saturday, January 13, 2018 6:12 PM

This film was not one of Connery's better efforts. There were undeniably a lot of problems, even if it was fun. I felt Donald Pleasance's Blofeld was pretty underwhelming, and his first meeting with Bond was rushed so the film could get to the big action set piece at the end, the plot to fake Bond's death requires a lot of suspension of disbelief because he's been around the world so much at this point, surely some people would see right through it, and plus, not only is making Bond Japanese offensive, it adds nothing to the plot. Yes, people will say that it was to help blend him in, but they could have found some way to hide him without making him take a wife or being a worker. Plus, his disguise is pretty bad. There's a lot of things I like about this. The special effects, production design, Japanese setting, dramatic tone, Little Nellie & the music. I, also, like how different it it is from other 007 films. The 1st Bond movie I ever saw. My dad showed this on Netflix when I was 9. It blew my mind.
