Bava was the Godfather of bodycount movies. - @Monday, September 10, 2012 5:40 PM

Friday the 13th did rip off from this movie. Sean Cunningham has admitted to Bava's influence in interviews. Kill scenes from the first two Friday the 13th installments almost copy shot for shot from this film. Bava was a genius. Cunningham was a hack. - @Thursday, April 26, 2012 4:29 PM

@sharpnickelz well some of the death scenes in friday the 13th are practically frame by frame identical to the ones in this movie, and though it's not exactly ripping off, it's pretty damn close! Many movies have been influenced by this one actually... - @Tuesday, January 24, 2012 4:31 PM

@sharpnickelz Who said it "ripped off" "Friday the 13th"? Top comment says it owes a lot to this film, and I agree. Friday was, heavily, influenced by this, just as "Halloween" (1978) was influenced by "Black Christmas" (1974). All great horror films find inspiration from other films. Nothing wrong with that. Personally though, I feel Bava was a superior director to that of a Sean Cunningham or Wes Craven - @Tuesday, December 20, 2011 2:04 PM

Friday the 13th didn't "rip" off this movie. Just because TotDN has a high body count and originated some of the most cliche slasher ideas, doesn't mean that Friday the 13th wasn't innovative and unique in some of its ideas. Just because a slasher movie is similar to the ones that came before it, doesn't mean it doesn't have its own merit, it just follows an archetype. - @Thursday, March 17, 2011 7:40 PM

One of my favorite horror films! A giallo that started the whole craze. Who knew that after 39 years, a little Italian film would have such influence over mainstream and indie film makers...and nobody even knows it! Haha. With the exception of The Girl Who Knew Too Much, this is my favorite Bava. - @Thursday, May 6, 2010 8:31 PM

Fair enough... it's just that the tone & wording were similar, not just the thought. - @Wednesday, November 18, 2009 3:12 AM

sam78loomis, stop ripping off material from the Maddox Mission web site & get your own if you're gonna pay out on a director for using techniques you may find amateur -ish or pretentious. - @Tuesday, November 17, 2009 2:40 PM

Dude no offense, but what was the point of that list... & half the movies in that list you just regurgitated were pretty much the same generic titles that everyone in the world who's not into horror regurgitates. And this last few were especially lame "candyman, interview with the vampire, scream, anaconda, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, faculty, ring"... WTF? And by the way i love the original Fri 13th, but it's actually a rip off of this movie & so is any movie that ripped off Fri 13th. - @Tuesday, November 17, 2009 2:25 PM
