I've been to the actual tree a few times. There's nothing particularly scary about it during the day but I have seen some weird shit at night. During the day, you can park and get to the tree in a couple minutes walk but at night the park is closed and you have to walk from the far side. Probably a 15 minute walk. There are sections of the trail that are surrounded by super thick foliage and they've essentially carved out a tunnel for the walking path to go through. It is in this area where I've heard the most unexplained noises, like the sound of someone impossibly running through that extremely thick foliage towards the path and then stopping right before jumping out. I've seen black birds flying around at night below the tree line, which just seems odd. There are single seat steal benches that occupy large open areas of the park under the oak canopy where they just seem out of place. Once you get to the tree, you can feel a noticeable temperature drop. I've never heard any strange noises around the tree. It actually seems quite peaceful. During the day we were able to video the tree which revealed that some of the crosses and inverted crosses are not visible to the naked eye. There are definitely axe and burn marks on the tree. Urban legend says there have been a few attempts to cut the tree down but they were never able to due to the saws malfunctioning or becoming dull instantly. Just behind the tree, there are remnants of a cinder block building which seems to have been made up of small rooms. There are also broken moonshine style bottles around this area (you know the ones with the finger hole near the spout?). Definitely worth checking out though just to see the size and age of this tree. Some may ask, "how do I know which tree it is?" Oh, you'll know. - @Tuesday, October 16, 2018 2:39 AM
