The Dirty Dozen meet the Stiff Upper Lip. A British Petroleum executive (Michael Caine) is assigned to work with the British Army in North Africa handling port duties for incoming fuels. This gives him the official rank of Captain in the British Army. The Colonel (Nigel Green) in charge of the Dirty Dozen is told he must have a British officer accompany his men on a dangerous mission 400 miles behind the German lines and is saddled with the Petroleum executive, who tries to argue his way out by saying that his contract states he is to only work port duties. That argument is lost on the Brigade Commander (Harry Andrews) who simply points out that the executive is wearing a British uniform. The real leader of the Dirty Dozen (Nigel Davenport), a released prisoner himself, doesn't need or want the British officer, who's supposed to be in charge, but he's promised an extra 2,000 British Pounds if he gets him back alive. Disguised as Italians, their trek across Rommel's Africa includes ...

I have a nagging feeling that the ambush scene where the commandos just watch the other British group get butchered is factual, of course not as depicted in the film but as in to keep the mission from being compromised the group was told to stand down by their CO. - @Thursday, September 20, 2018 12:35 PM

Thank You, for posting this video! This movie has almost no presence on the internet. Your trailer fills in the gap nicely. From the very beginning to the last minute of it's plot it twists and turns unexpectedly. Having read many factual, real accounts of war... Play Dirty stays true to the diabolical events that describe war. Likely, many youngsters and retired military will not like it when I say that Pat Tillmans' death is what real war is like. It's not called war for nothing... - @Tuesday, September 5, 2017 1:28 AM

Lili Marlene is the opening title music to Play Dirty because this was the favoured song of the British Army's Long Range Desert Group -about whose factual exploits this movie is based upon. They fought so deep into enemy territory they adopted the song that was a favourite with the German Army as their own. If you had that playing in and out of the moments of dialogue this would have been a brilliant trailer. But well done anyway. It's very good as it is. - @Friday, January 24, 2014 3:25 AM

Hated music at the end this is a WW2 film! - @Saturday, August 24, 2013 7:19 AM

Glad you thought the song at the end was good, some older films need a bit of revamping of their trailers to achieve a new audience. - @Wednesday, January 9, 2013 8:17 PM

The end song was awesome. It threw me off and made me chuckle. - @Wednesday, January 9, 2013 5:52 PM

Lt P
That's not music - just noise. In the real film the opening scene is of the jeep carrying the dead Lt. with Lili Marlene playing very loudly to get through the German lines. - @Saturday, December 15, 2012 8:43 AM

for god sakes when will someone post this movie in it entirety - @Sunday, September 2, 2012 2:04 AM

This is a great trailer. But, sorry, why not use any of the awesome soundtrack of the movie instead of the bullshit hard rock song at the end which has no relation to the movie or WWII whatsoever? Lili Marlene, Faccetta Nera, Wenn Wir Marschieren... the movie provides so much excellent period music and you chose to use something completely irrelevant for what reason? - @Friday, May 11, 2012 10:02 AM
